From a working student to a member of the management
David Endres, Managing Director of the arano group
In the right place at the right time
David is one of the four managing directors of the arano group. At first, his success story sounds like the typical “from rags to riches” story. However, he himself describes it a little differently, which fits David's personality: Direct, honest, and down to earth.
His career at the arano group began in summer 2018 when he decided to gain work experience as a placement student during the final semester of his economics studies at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He found the job advertisement of “Pacura med” – today one of the arana group brands – and applied on a Saturday. On the Monday, he received a call inviting him to an interview which took place on the same afternoon, and in August 2018 David finally started as a placement student in the back office at Pacura med in Nuremberg. He says: “I was lucky. I was in the right place at the right time and had the opportunity to grow with the company.”
At the time, the full team still consisted of seven people and a hands-on mentality was needed. The tasks were mostly regarding the initial implementation of the respective projects and there were few specifications, so David designed the fleet guidelines on his own during his time as a placement student, for example. Today, the arano group's large fleet is managed by a separate department, fleet management.
Teamwork makes the dream work
In December 2018, the move to Nordostpark in Nuremberg was just around the corner. A move with obstacles, because the moving company only set up a fraction of the equipment. Under cover of darkness, David and Alexander Gusev (company founder) screwed together electric desks: “At some point we became really good, we screwed a desk together in 10 minutes”, remembers David, “such actions naturally weld together.” Together with the few other colleagues who were already working for the company at the time, they worked late into the night, only to be back in the office at 7am the next morning, all united, to connect the monitors and equipment. This is a fine example of the unbeatable team spirit that is deeply rooted in the company’s identity and can be experienced in the company every day: We meet on an equal footing, regardless of position and brand, and help each other where we can.
A new home
It didn't take long for David to receive an offer of a permanent position and in 2019 he joined Pacura med full-time as a project manager. In the subsequent years, the company's growth meant that he was on the road a lot. He commuted between Nuremberg, Heidelberg, Hamburg and Düsseldorf and found his new home in the last city in 2020. David was able to witness numerous office moves – although he hardly had to do any wrenching himself – and he successfully developed new projects, such as the brand baloop, which was launched at the start of 2021 and of which he was the managing director from November 2021 to March 2023. Since then, David has been a member of the management as managing director.
It is not only his professional home that David has found at the arano group. He also met his wife, Ewgenija, director of the brand Pacura doc, here. “Due to our different working styles, we are perhaps not the perfect match professionally, but that makes us all the more so in our personal lives”, he says and laughs. The pair have recently bought their own house in Düsseldorf and welcomed a dog into their lives. Bali the German shepherd has been part of the family since October 2022. As an aside, David also says that he has just submitted his thesis for the weekend Master of Business Administration (MBA) course and will now hopefully soon be able to add this achievement to his title.
For David, standstill is an alien concept – so he not only fits in perfectly with the company, he makes his mark on it as well. It is fortunate for the arano group that he was “in the right place at the right time” back then and applied.
